Yesterday was the first day of fall, also known as the equinox - when the length of night and the day are nearly equal. It’s also the beginning of the cooler temps that Arizonans hope will be with us until spring comes around.

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. Although I’ve lived in Arizona for 40+ years, I still remember the changing colors of the leaves in the Twin Cities.  My birthday (and as it turns out, many of my friends’ birthdays) is this time of year. Coffee drinkers rejoice in the return of the pumpkin spice latte from their favorite barista. I refer to this time of year as “sweater weather” and start thinking about plans for the holidays.

So as we enjoy this time of year, I offer you the following fall-inspired thoughts:

E – Energize your teams with an outdoor staff outing.  Take advantage of this beautiful weather.

Q – Quiz your various business partners and vendors on plans for the upcoming year.

U – Understand and evaluate your financials to ensure you are in a good position coming into year-end.

I – Investigate new business opportunities with current clients and revisit some of prospects.

N – Never underestimate the power of face-to-face meetings, take some to time to see some folks you haven’t visited in awhile

O – Open up the lines of communication, with colleagues, friends and family.

X – eXpect the unexpected and welcome what new challenges and opportunities this may bring.
