(SURPRISE, Ariz., Oct. 6, 2015) W.J. Maloney Plumbing has announced the addition of the Surprise Spring Training Complex to its roster of projects.
The major and minor league clubhouses for both the Texas Rangers and the Kansas City Royals are undergoing a $22 million remodeling and expansion project, expected to be completed in February 2016.
W.J. Maloney Plumbing is relocating and upgrading existing restrooms and kitchens, including new water, waste and gas piping. The work also includes piping new hydrotherapy pools in both clubhouses.
The expansion will result in buildings that are 60 percent larger than their current size and efficient enough to be certified LEED Gold by the U.S. Green Building Council.
Hunt Construction Group, now AECOM, is the general contractor.
The work on the Rangers’ and Royals’ spring training facility adds to W.J. Maloney Plumbing’s lineup of baseball stadium and spring training complex projects.
The company provided plumbing contracting services for Sloan Park, the recently completed spring training stadium for the Chicago Cubs in Mesa, Ariz., and has also worked on the Los Angeles Dodgers portion of the Camelback Ranch Spring Training Complex in Glendale, Ariz., which is shared by the Dodgers and the Chicago White Sox.
Also on W. J. Maloney Plumbing’s resume are the Miracle League of Arizona’s facilities in Scottsdale, Ariz. The League allows children with special needs to play baseball on fields and within facilities that are specially designed, constructed and maintained.
“Being selected for these high-profile projects is a great sense of pride for our company,” said Kathryn “Kitty” Maloney-Langmade, president of W.J. Maloney Plumbing. “It demonstrates not only to the general contractors, but to the public as well, that our team is up to the challenge of working on such highly recognized projects.”
