For those that have not had a chance to see the announcement, Cision and Vocus are joining forces in an effort to provide better tools and services for PR folks and digital marketers.

As a user of both platforms, I will be curious to see how the new database works.

I remember when Cision changed its look and feel a few years ago where the search capabilities had check boxes and it was easy to find specific beat reporters. Around 2012 the new design was introduced and at the beginning I was extremely lost and confused with the new layout and tabs, but thankfully I soon caught on and was pleased with how simple it was. Recently I have been utilizing Vocus and have found this service to be really thorough and have had no issues with working with all the functionalities.

With the merger, one feature that piques my interest is the tracking and analyzing capabilities. I am sure that we all use, or have used at one time, Google Analytics, of which I personally am a HUGE fan, but I look forward to see what this union has to offer. Will it be a one-stop-shop, or will we still have to subscribe to multiple services to achieve and capture everything we need and provide to our clients? Will this merger really be as simple and easy-to-use as the announcement suggests? I’m eager to find out and will be restless waiting to hear more as this merger takes place.
