I’m Brittany, and I’m the new intern here at HMA. A little bit about myself, I’m a 23-year-old San Diego native and recent ASU grad. I love my family, friends, sushi, dogs (especially Boston Terriers), the beach, Arizona sunsets, shopping, live music and coffee. I’m beginning my third week interning at HMA and already love it! Everyone is awesome, the clients are exciting and I feel like I am learning something new everyday. There are so many fun events coming up and many opportunities to get involved in the community as we celebrate our 30th anniversary and have almost completed our 30 community service projects. I love working somewhere where I can not only put my writing and creativity to use but also other skills that I’ve honed while in school.
I took American Sign Language as my language requirement in high school and also at ASU and was very excited to learn that HMA was working with the Arizona Commission for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing. I haven’t had an opportunity to sign in a while, except for the occasional translating for a cashier at a grocery store or a
Starbucks, so I’m very excited to start again. Hope I’m not too rusty!
Beth has been awesome. She has already invited me to a couple of networking events where I have met some really nice, smart people in the industry. Alison taught me some very helpful “tricks of the Alison trade” during a workshop we had the other day, and Abbie gets a good laugh when she sees me try and work the copy machine (I must admit, I sometimes have blonde moments). I love what a huge sports fan Scott is. Reminds me of being back home with my baseball-crazed family (Go Red Sox & Padres). Everyone here is such a pro at what they do. I look forward to learning a lot from each person individually. Overall, I am extremely appreciative and grateful for this opportunity and look forward to what the future will bring. Hopefully I will get a chance to meet you all at one of the upcoming events HMA will be attending.
