Tomorrow, March 20, 2013, is Arizona Gives Day, which is a 24 hour online movement to show support for Arizona nonprofits. This day, presented by FirstBank, will focus on giving back to the organizations whose invaluable efforts have helped empower communities and provide services, products and more to those in need.

Now for our Tip for Tuesday we have asked individuals to tell us one nonprofit they are donating to tomorrow and why!

Lisa Johnson Stone- I am supporting Gabriel’s Angels because it is important the organization continue to help make a difference in the lives of children. Gabriel’s Angels offers healing pet therapy to at-risk children nurturing their emotional development and enhancing the quality of their lives forever.

Elizabeth Hughes I am supporting the International Cancer Advocacy Network (ICAN) with special recognition to CEO Marcia K. Horn. I am proud to serve on the national board and even more proud that there is a fund in my late mother's name dedicated to Ovarian Cancer Research.

Jennifer Parsons I support Make-A-Wish because wishes bring hope, strength and joy to children battling life-threatening illnesses, and their families. Wishes give sick children a chance to feel "normal" and give them something to think about other than being sick.

Charlotte Shaff - I'm donating to Scottsdale Training and Rehabilitation Services (STARS) because they offer stepping stones to physically and mentally disabled teens and adults to become an active, thriving, educated people in our community.

Joshua Schlag –I am supporting Starlight Children's Foundation - Arizona - I'm donating to the Starlight Children’s Foundation because these kids and their families have gone through a lot and need a moment of enjoyment!

Jaye O'Donnell- I am donating to the Anne Rita Monahan Foundation as a tribute to my dear friend Andrea who died from ovarian cancer at age 31. I think of her so often and miss her so much. For me, the money I give to ARM is a way of taking action against the disease that took my friend. Donating is one small meaningful gift I can give that I trust will make a big difference in others' lives.

So now time for you to give a TIP!!

  1. Jennifer Dangremond says:

Of course, I’ll make a donation to STARS to help teens and individuals with disabilities. A great deal of my heart also belongs to CASS and I fully support their efforts to end homelessness so I’ll make a donation there as well. And if my checkbook allows, I’ll donate to Ben’s Bells in Tucson because that group brings a bit of light to the world when it is most needed.

  2. Jennifer says:

I will be supporting the Anne Rita Monahan Foundation tomorrow! The money they raise supports ovarian cancer research at TGen right here in Arizona, provides scholarships for students interested in cancer research, and helps raise awareness about this disease. Many people don’t know that ovarian cancer is the 5th leading cause of cancer deaths in women and the deadliest of all gynecological cancers. I hope more people will support the ARM Foundation tomorrow!
