We are just so proud to be among the 10 PRSA Phoenix Copper Anvil Award winners this year! The team at HMA, along with nine other amazing PR friends, learned the good news during the annual event last night. See all the photos from the event on our Facebook page.

We took home a Copper Anvil award, which recognizes outstanding public relations tactics and campaigns that incorporate effective research, planning, execution and evaluation, for our work on an op-ed piece with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale focusing on the impact the Clubs make in the community-at-large. In addition, we took home two Copper Anvil Awards of Merit for our work in developing an annual report for the Hopi Tribe as well as a proactive media relations placement for Arizona Radiation Oncology Specialists (now Arizona Center for Cancer Care) on its state-of-the-art Gilbert facility, respectively.

Additional Anvil honorees included the Valley Forward Association, AAA Arizona, ASU Cronkite PR Lab, Allison + Partners, the Allstate Foundation, Ideas Collide, Humana/Coyne Public Relations and Gordon C. James Public Relations.

This year, both Steph and I had the privilege of  helping plan the actual event, which included developing the “Ideas Come to Light” theme, copy writing event materials, securing Johna Burke as an emcee, overseeing the scholarship raffle/auction and much more. Steph even acted as the “Twitter Master,” giving play-by-play of the event to the Twitterverse under the @PRSAPhoenix handle.

For the first time in several years, a new-look award was also debuted at the event and given to all honorees.

“Designed by local artist Adam Carter, the new award is meant to symbolize the process that goes into a successful public relations campaign or tactic,” said Copper Anvil committee chair Cynde Cerf. “Often, people only see the final result of a public relations campaign or tactic and not the hard work and effort behind it. As public relations practitioners, we know it’s the process of getting to the result that is at the heart of the achievement.”

The event was sponsored by AAA Arizona, Allstate, Anamorphics, Inc., APS, Gordon C. James Public Relations, kool Party Rentals, Olson Communications and R&R Partners.
