During a recent staff discussion about sports and entertainment venues in the Phoenix area, it was determined that you DO need a scorecard to keep everything straight.
If you want to go to an Arizona Diamondbacks baseball game, you will visit Chase Field, originally Bank One Ballpark.
If you are on your way to a Phoenix Suns or Phoenix Mercury basketball game or Arizona Rattlers football game, you’ll be going to Talking Stick Resort Arena, formerly, US Airways Center, originally America West Arena.
The Arizona Coyotes’ home games are played in the Gila River Arena, formerly Jobing.com Arena and originally Glendale Arena.
The best outdoor concert venue in Phoenix is the Ak-Chin Pavilion, formerly Ashley Furniture HomeStore Pavilion, formerly Cricket Wireless Pavilion, formerly Cricket Pavilion, formerly Blockbuster Desert Sky Pavilion and originally Desert Sky Pavilion.
For indoor concerts and other entertainment, it’s the Comerica Theatre, originally the Dodge Theatre.
As of now, the Arizona Cardinals home football games, as well as the NCAA’s Final Four basketball games, are being played at the University of Phoenix Stadium.
The naming rights game is obviously changing all the time!
