We’ve got a seemingly simple question to pose to our fellow public relations and marketing communications friends today: If you could work on ANY public relations campaign in 2016, what would you choose and why? (Just one caveat – it has to be something with a local tie. For us, that means in Arizona. For you, that could mean New York, Washington or even Ireland.)
Below, we share our dream gigs, and welcome you to share yours!
Alison: For me, it is a no-brainer. I’d love to be a part of the opening/expansion of Chicago deep dish pizzeria Lou Malnati’s in the Phoenix market this coming spring. While this Midwestern-born girl prefers Gino’s East, but having Lou’s – a quality Chicagoland staple – expand into the Valley, which includes millions of transplants from the Midwest, is going to be a no-brainer success – and fun! It will also be a media slam dunk – anyone see the coverage that nearly every major media outlet gave to the Midwestern-born Portillo’s expansion in Scottsdale back in 2013? (Yes, Phoenix Business Journal friends, I am talking to you!) And yes, I would be cool being paid in buttery, flaky, deep-dish crust.
Shelby: If I could work on any single PR campaign or client this next year, I’d choose the 2016 Arizona Fine Art Expo . Being surrounded by art and makeshift studios during my youth wasn’t always something I appreciated. My dad can attest to the complaints of my fourth grade self on his abstract acrylics taking over our house’s walls. However, in recent years, my attitude shifted. While I’m not a full-fledge art connoisseur by any means, working on a program like the Arizona Fine Art Expo would certainly be most pleasing.
Caelen: I would love to do PR for the Wish Ball in support of Make-A-Wish Arizona . As a junior at Arizona State University, I served as the communications intern for the Make-A-Wish America national headquarters, located right here in Phoenix. Never have I worked in such a positive and uplifting environment, meanwhile being so touched by the stories of children having their most wanted wish granted. Those stories will stick with me forever and I would love to combine my love for PR, event planning and wish kids by working the 2016 Wish Ball.
Abbie: My dream campaign for next year? Coordinating the welcome home parade for the Arizona Cardinals, 2016 Super Bowl champions. Working with the team’s communications staff, we’d create a true community celebration that brings the players and the entire state together.
Scott: The celebratory party for the sale of the 10,000th copy of “Who is Gym?” This would not only commemorate a tremendous milestone in hyper-local publishing, but it would demonstrate the true expertise of the HMA Public Relations team, from messaging and media relations to community relations and special event management.
