If not prepared, one may find this audience a little bit intimidating.

Per team HMA’s request, Abbie taught Steph and I all there is to know about media training. Being the two account coordinators, media training is something neither of us were familiar with and what better person to learn from than Abbie?!

We learned a lot in our hour together. What you should and shouldn’t say in front of the camera, who should be speaking in the midst of a PR crisis, what to wear that won’t distract your audience, how to get your key messages across despite being asked tricky questions, never say “no comment,” how to avoid saying too much, and lastly, if you don’t know the answer, it’s okay to say, “I don’t know.”

We ran out of time for the on-camera training, Abbie promises to make us do it soon. Be on the lookout for those videos to pop up on the HMA site in the near future.

I’ll remember to leave my geometric shirt at home next time. Isn’t there something about color, too? Blue makes people happy, green serious, red important (i am making these up but I do think there is some scientifical answer out there)
