The 2012 Major League Baseball regular season has come to an end, and with it, something we haven’t seen since 1967 when Carl Yastrzemski of the Boston Red Sox did it.

The Detroit Tigers’ Miguel Cabrera won the American League’s Triple Crown with a .330 batting average, 44 homers and 139 RBIs – tops in each category.  He’s only the 15th player to ever win a Triple Crown.

So, with the end of the season, there will be numerous awards heaped upon deserving players.

The public relations industry has its share of awards, as well, with Copper and Silver Anvils, Percy Awards, Bulldog Reporter Awards and the list goes on.

I started thinking, what if there were PR/baseball crossover awards.  What would they be?

  • Triple Crown – landing a client on the front page of The Wall Street Journal, “The Today Show” and “All Things Considered” on the same day.
  • Cy Young – successfully pitching a major feature story every five days.
  • Silver Slugger – getting client media-hits seemingly every day.
  • Gold Glove – expert crisis communications pro who can handle just about everything that comes there way.
  • MVP – the best at new business development, account service and overall industry knowledge.
  • Rookie of the Year – account coordinator who learns quickly and rapidly becomes a key member of the team.

Are there others?
