Photo credit: careercast.comAccording to CareerCast.com’s annual list of the “Worst Jobs in America,” reporters – specifically of the newspaper variety who work late hours and sometimes even encounter danger on their beats – scored as the very worst job for 2015.

I get that the newspaper industry has taken a major hit over the past decade – but the WORST job in America?

This report comes just a few months after I posted about the insanely out-of-whack pay gap between the media and public relations folks.

So, I have to ask any reporters who follow this blog – is it that bad? What do you love about your job? Put this negative assumption about your industry to rest!

And, should I be wrong and working in the newspaper industry really is that bad, then let me make a suggestion to my fellow public relations practitioners reading this post-maybe the next time a reporter doesn’t respond to one of our pitches or seems exasperated by our follow-up on a story idea, we should just chill a bit. After all, they’ve got the worst job!
