dos equisYesterday I came across this article “14 Offbeat, Extreme, and Downright Unusual Ways Brands Have Promoted Their Products,” by Karla Cook on HubSpot and it immediately caught my attention.

Why?

Because as public relations professionals we are always thinking about unusual (or new and interesting) ways to help our clients share their news. The article listed 14 brand promotions but these four were my favorite:

  • Nivea Kids Sunscreen - About a Seagull drone that poops sunscreen! This one is a must-see for any mom!
  • Milka Chocolate – Consumers who bought a chocolate bar that had a missing square could go online and either send themselves the last square or send it to a loved one.
  • UberPOOL- a guerrilla campaign in Mexico City where drones with mini-billboards promoting UberPOOL were flown during stagnant rush hour traffic
  • Lipton Green Tea Fit Cart – a commercial about a shopping cart that tracks your steps, calories burned, and time spent moving at the grocery store.

Each of the 14 examples were unique and really stood out for each brand, but what surprised me was that there were only 14 listed. I think there are others that should have been on the list such as the Old Spice guy campaign or the Dos Equis most interesting man campaign.
