As an invited guest to a recent Accelerent breakfast, I had the opportunity to hear speaker Kevin Brown, assistant vice president of marketing for SERVPRO, an international franchise system with nearly 1,700 franchise locations specializing in fire and water cleanup and restoration.

His topic was “The Hero Effect: Making a Difference When It Matters the Most.”

He stressed that you can never go wrong doing the right thing.  And he emphasized that life is not ordinary.  It’s extraordinary – in fact, he pointed out that there were 40 million applicants for your job as a human!

Brown talked about how essential it is to have a company culture of heroes.

Entertaining with a little introspective humor, he shared a few of his thoughts on what makes a hero in today’s workplace.

Brown challenged everyone in attendance to ask themselves one question each morning before they leave for work:  “Will the use of your day outlive the day?
