Every now and then, my weekly Sports Illustrated magazines pile up on me.  I’ll then frantically spend extra time on cardio at the gym so I can get caught up.  I’m one of the fortunate ones who can ride a stationary bike and read at the same time.

A few issues ago, I was surprised to see a reference in SI to the Arizona State University Wildcats.

I don’t think it’s the first time a national sports outlet has gotten ASU and the University of Arizona confused.

I was really humored with a recent article in SI about the Arizona Cardinals’ rookie sensation Tyrann Mathieu, who has worked hard to repair his reputation since becoming a pro – a personal PR plan in progress.

The article noted that the NFL safety has been doing all the right things.  Apparently, he’s gone so far as to help coach-up the Arizona Diamondbacks!

“During film study Mathieu occupies a seat in the front row of the D-backs’ meeting room, where he’ll fill his spiral notebook with information…”

Although the Diamondbacks are currently looking for a new hitting coach, it’s doubtful Mathieu is in the running for the job.

Maybe he’ll be the next two-sport star, a la Bo Jackson, Deion Sanders or Brian Jordan.

Or maybe the East Coast media will start paying attention to what’s happening out West.
