#MediaMonday – Susan Casper

SUSAN CASPER 2013Sonoran Living Live is the Valley’s original local lifestyle program on ABC 15 hosted by Terri Ouellette and Susan Casper. Recently, Caelen and I had the opportunity to sit in as part of the live audience and even talk one-on-one with the hosts. Our jobs are so cool! Since we had Terri on for a #MediaMonday back when she first started her gig on Sonoran Living, we knew it was the perfect time and opportunity to feature Susan!

Susan, time to share:

I have the privilege of interviewing incredible people for a living, so it’s fun to share a little about myself.

I consider it a blessing to have enjoyed an incredible 20+ year career in broadcasting. I got my start as a weather anchor in Panama City, Florida. Needless to say, forecasting sunny weather (with an occasional hurricane) on a daily basis was tons of fun! I eventually moved from weather anchor to news anchor, where I remained until leaving news to become a TV host.

Being the co-host of Sonoran Living Live is an absolute joy. I must admit I was nervous leaving news to pursue a hosting gig, but the change has been a perfect fit for me and my family.

This career has helped to open a number of doors for me, especially in the community. I am a passionate community activist and mentor and am honored to serve on the Dress for Success Executive Board and as a founding member of the 100 Black Women of Phoenix.

In addition to having an incredible award-winning career in journalism, I am also a wife and mommy of 10-year-old twin girls. My life is a constant juggling act; but my faith, family and friends help me keep it all together.

The toughest part of being a TV host is fighting the temptation to eat all the delicious food our amazing chefs prepare on the show each day. Seriously, I gain about a half pound every month.

I enjoy bringing our viewers a regular segment on Sonoran Living called “Mommy Minute.” It’s a fun, 60-second tip to help busy parents balance it all. I am always looking for new ideas. So, please email your ideas to: scasper@abc15.com and follow me on social media:
