#MediaMonday – Kyra Love

Kyra LoveEach Monday, we are posting a blog to help our readers get to know the media just a little bit better.
With a TWIST!
No, we aren’t posting story pitch tips or media lists, but instead great stories from the media themselves about their lives, their work and other little known facts! Think of it as your first “networking” opportunity of the week!
Today’s #MediaMonday comes to us from Kyra Love, a freelance journalist and website editor for Scottsdale Business + Life Magazine.
So, Kyra, time to share!
What do you want to tell the blogosphere about yourself today?
After graduating from the University of Florida in May 2013 (Go Gators!), I made my way to the Valley looking for a relief from Florida’s unbearable humidity – and boy, did I get it!
I got my start in the Valley a year earlier with a summer internship at Arizona Foothills Magazine. I was still on the fence between diving into the world of book publishing or editorial journalism. Although reading YA novels all day and correcting grammar still sounds like a dream job, the internship thrust me into the magazine industry, and I’ve never looked back!
During my short stint with AZ Foothills, I wrote product blurbs; posted website articles, including one that involved a very luxurious massage; and even interviewed a semi-celebrity. I even made a return to help with some content for the 2013 edition of The Best of Our Valley.
Since settling in the Valley, I have been working fulltime in a graphic design position and work as a freelance writer in my “spare time.” I have been contributing to Scottsdale Business + Life Magazine for a little over a year and have had so many opportunities with the publication, including an interview with both the highest ranked male and female polo players in America, the chance to learn about some amazing local businesses and the privilege of being a guest editor – and now, web editor.
When I’m not glued to my computer screen – which, I’ll admit, is rare – I love to watch TV, make crafts and take my dog, Yoshi, to the dog park.
I am always looking for more opportunities to do what I love most: write! If you want to read more of my writing, visit my personal blog, www.kyraelove.wordpress.com, and SB+L’s website, www.scottsdalebusinessandlife.com.
