#MediaMonday – Kenn Tomasch

Each Monday, we are posting a blog to help our readers get to know the media just a little bit better.
With a TWIST!
No, we aren’t posting story pitch tips or media lists, but instead great stories from the media themselves about their lives, their work and other little known facts! Think of it as your first “networking” opportunity of the week!
Today’s #Media Monday comes to us from Kenn Tomasch, editor of IMPACT Magazine, the monthly glossy magazine produced by the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce.
So, Kenn, time to share!
What do you want to tell the blogosphere about yourself today?
I’m a huge soccer fan who went through the full range of emotions this past Wednesday morning when the USA beat Algeria to make it to the second round of the World Cup. My dad, my son and I went to the 2006 World Cup in Germany (the land of our heritage) and had a fantastic three-generation trip that I wrote a book about. Next year, the three of us are planning to add my 15-year-old daughter to the mix and go back to Germany for the Women’s World Cup.
I’ve been fortunate to be in the game as a soccer play-by-play announcer on radio and television as well. I spent three years as the TV voice of Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire and for the last three falls have called college soccer games on the Big Ten Network. While I was a TV sports reporter and anchor for many years, broadcasting is a side job now. My regular job is Marketing and Communications Manager for the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, where I edit our award-winning monthly business publication, IMPACT Magazine.
Away from the office and the field, I enjoy reading, travel, cooking, teaching a Sports & Media journalism ethics class at ASU and parenting two high schoolers (one of whom is busy trying to choose a college). Their mom moved here nearly three years ago now, so I followed (from the Chicago area) so as not to miss out on this critical period of their lives.
Thanks for the opportunity to say hi to everybody!
