There is nothing quite like one of your bridesmaid’s dresses falling down during a wedding.

Unless, of course, TWO bridesmaid dresses fall down during a wedding.

You can take 12 News reporter Kacie Talamante and my word for it, because it happened to us at virtually the same time when we stood up for my cousin Linsey back in the early 2000s. Thankfully, it was during the reception!

They just don’t make bridesmaid dress straps like they used to. But, this unforgettable moment in history is one that makes me smile whenever I see Kacie on the job, reporting on the most important Arizona news of the day.

A clear future Emmy winner and amazingly gifted reporter, let’s welcome her to #MediaMonday this Fourth of July week!

So, Kacie, what do you want to tell the blogosphere about yourself today?

I’m a producer, multimedia journalist at KPNX in Phoenix. I’ve been hooked on journalism ever since I went to college at the University of Arizona and interned at KOLD, the CBS station in Tucson.  Let’s Go Wildcats!

At this point, I’ve pretty much done it all! From writing to reporting, anchoring and producing!  The more I do, the more I realize how exciting and fulfilling it is to be in TV news.

We get the great opportunity to tell people’s stories every single day.   I’m not going to lie, sometimes it can be a daunting task.  Sometimes it’s heartbreaking and upsetting, and sometimes it’s just plain fun.  You take the good with the bad and no matter what, it’s always worth it.   I’m constantly blown away and proud of my talented co-workers.  I love when words and video match up to make a compelling story that really hits home.

It’s a business where every second and every word counts, so you better make them good.   My career has taken me to some very interesting places and taught me a lot, like photogs know the best places to eat; that dogs and kids make for good TV; and ALWAYS have a back-up plan.   As technology changes, the industry is changing, but to me it’s still all about finding someone, and telling their story in an interesting way.

So if you have a story that needs to be told, email me ktalamante@12news.com or just send a line to say hi!

She’s beautiful – and sounds like she has a good idea of how to put together some solid journalism. Why hasn’t she been on the air a helluva lot more at 12?
