A recent online posting called attention to the questionable actions of a grassroots political communications firm. Seems the firm sent a letter to the editor, signed by a concerned citizen. Turns out the citizen knew nothing about it and the firm simply attached names to the letters and sent them out. All newspapers regularly verify that the letters are legit. Good thing this one did.
At a time when transparency is so important, these kinds of tactics do nothing but cast a shadow of doubt on those of us who practice ethical and honest public relations.
