Happy birthday to the Valley’s only business and financial news-format radio station KFNN-AM, which celebrates its 20^th year on-the-air this month.

I can remember when the station signed on, much to the delight of the PR community which was presented with a new world of media placement opportunities.

The station began hiring big-name talent, including Bill Heywood, among others, to further legitimize itself in the marketplace.

I used to see the station’s general manager, Ron Cohen, in the gym regularly. Little did I know he was building up his endurance for the brutal radio wars, in which he has obviously been a success.
