As a football and basketball fan who much prefers Costner baseball flicks like Bull Durham over Field of Dreams, I am only too happy to debunk a major myth depicted in the classic father-son tale.
Take my industry, for example…
- Just because you plan an event does not mean anyone will attend
- Just because you start a Facebook fan page does not mean anyone will like it
- Just because you send out a news release does not mean anyone will pick it up
In the real world, where Darth Vader is NOT offering inspiring monologues every 10 minutes, building something is just the start. It is where folks like us come in to talk media strategy, promotion, advertising, marketing, digital campaign and more.
I like to think more along the lines of Hilary Clinton – “It Takes a Village” of geniuses and realists to make them come.
