12-News-goes-live-010-852x1024Yesterday, I (Brittany, that is) had the opportunity to attend Channel 12’s “Downtown Goes Live” event in Phoenix. As many of you know, Channel 12 recently found a new home in the Arizona Republic building on 200 East Van Buren. The station celebrated by inviting the community to an all-day street party to commemorate their new location. The whole set-up was very much like the Today Show in Rockefeller Center with fans walking the streets, holding signs and purposefully trying to get in the background of one of the many lives broadcasts being filmed throughout the day.

12-News-goes-live-002-1024x768Due to Saturday’s tragedy, the Red Cross was on hand for anyone wanting to donate blood for the victims. I tried, but unfortunately was turned away due to low-iron. Sigh….

I walked around the streets, ate a delicious lunch provided by one of the many food vendors on hand and watched people endure the hour-long Biggest Loser boot camp. After the boot camp, I watched a live make-over segment and then headed down to the sports zone where I attempted to throw footballs and hit baseballs with other party-goers – I failed miserably.

12-News-goes-live-007-1024x768All and all, it was a really fun day.

I love the station’s new vibe and with weather like there was yesterday, audiences are going to love looking out at the sunny, clear skies in the background of every newscast.

Oh Brittany that is so honorable of you to try and donate blood! But by the sound of it you had an awesome day!! YAY! : )

  2. […] It’s not really a tourist attraction, but for those who have never been around it or seen it, there is definitely some intrigue. In fact, our own Brittany has a report on it here. […]
