Yes, April is a celebration and salute to volunteers. Volunteers -- those loyal community leaders who dedicate their talents and treasures to worthy non-profit and civic organizations. I can’t think of a time in my life where I wasn’t doing some sort of volunteer work.
Whether that was standing side-by-side with my mom at the annual gift-wrapping booth “helping” her with the ribbons, spending time at the senior center when I was part of a high school youth group or today as I serve on the boards for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale and the Public Relations Society of America’s Counselors Academy, volunteering my time is an important part of who I am.
It is also an important part of who we are at HMA Public Relations. As an agency, we provide pro bono services to DrugfreeAZ.org, Junior Achievement, and the Arizona Association for Economic Development. On behalf of our clients, we are also involved with such organizations as the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association and Subway Kids & Sports. And, in addition to our involvement with PRSA, we are also involved with National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and Society for Professional Journalists.
We do it because it is the right thing to do. We do it because giving back to our community is important to us. And we will continue to do it as long as we can provide a benefit to these and other worthwhile organizations.
So to all of you who share a little of yourself with a worthy organization, I applaud your efforts…not only this month but into the future.
