So, often when I watch news, I notice reporters noting they have the exclusive.

I will be honest – as an avid consumer of news in all of its forms, I could care less who has the exclusive. I prefer to see who has it the best – most accurate, best visuals, good links to spread the word, follow-up reporting, etc…

A bonus – when I get a clever or important tweet from the reporter on the scene. Makes me feel connected to his/her station versus others and more likely to watch that station in the long run.

What about you? What is important to you in the rapidly-evolving world news reporting?

  1. Unfortunately, there is probably some TV guru out there who would argue that “exclusive” = higher ratings, accuracy be damned.
