Recently, when Alison told me that she was writing a blog post on PR people as cats or dogs, I knew for sure that she was going to side on the cat! After reading her blog post “Getting Catty about PR,” which was in response to Susan Payton’s blog post “When It Comes to PR, Be Like a Cat, Not a Dog,” I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t all about the cat!
It’s no lie that I am not a true “cat” person, but I do see the good qualities in both, I mean they don’t call it a “dog eat dog world” for nothing.
Yes, while dogs can be loyal and can easily work together they also need a lot of attention. And if they don’t get enough exercise AND attention can be very needy. I am willing to bet that our friends in the media are not interested in a “needy” PR person.
So, I would have to say that I agree with both blog posts, I think that a little bit cat and a little bit dog would make a great PR person!
