Subway Restaurants of Arizona Names Eloy High School Student “Freshest, Fittest Kid in the Valley”

Subway Restaurants of Arizona is pleased to announce that Eloy resident Jessica Arredondo, a junior at Santa Cruz Valley Union High School in Pinal County, has been named the 2013 “Freshest, Fittest Kid in the Valley.” Her grand prize included more than 40 tickets to the Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix International Raceway on Sunday, March 3, which she used to take her fellow classmates and parents out for a day of racing fun.

Each winter, representatives from Subway Restaurants of Arizona hold “The Freshest, Fittest Essay Contest of the Year,” asking that young people in Arizona, ages seven to 17, write and tell Subway what their class, after-school program, troop or other organization does to help them live healthier, happier lives.

Arredondo’s winning essay focused on her dedication to the Jobs for Arizona Graduates (JAG) initiative at her high school, but more specifically, JAG’s Choose Healthy Action Teen program (CHAT), which brings students critical wellness information and tools to live healthier lives several times a month during the school year.

In addition to Arredondo, who was the grand prize winner, several other local children earned “Frest, Fit” recognition and ticket prize packs as well, including:

Gilbert’s Erykah Verdugo, 15, who wrote about her Girl Scout Troop and its year-long quest to earn its health badgesAnthem’s Brody Warren, 8, who wrote about his elementary school class’ implementation of the Reebok “BOKS” programChandler’s Stormy Light, 10, who wrote about her after school swim program, Gold Medal Swim School

Subway Restaurants of Arizona congratulates all of its 2013 “Freshest, Fittest Kids in the Valley” and beyond.
