Ak-Chin Indian Community Elects Two Tribal Council Members

The Ak-Chin Indian Community held Tribal Council elections on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014 at the Service Center and elected two council members, Delia Carlyle and Anthony Narcia, Sr. Both Carlyle and Narcia will each serve three-year terms and join Louis Manuel, Jr., Terry Enos and William Antone on the Council.

Carlyle is a nine-year veteran on Council and has also served as both Chairwoman and Vice-Chairwoman in the past.  She strongly believes in the path that the Community is headed with the expansion of economic development projects and job creation for Community members. Carlyle also believes it is important to see an updated draft of a Community “Constitution” and knows that this is significant to the future of the Community.

Narcia last served on Council two years ago and his primary objective is to “build a brighter tomorrow.” His focus will be safeguarding Tribal financial accountability and ensuring collaboration to deliver programs and services to Community members. Narcia believes that having a dynamic Council that works together will be the key to the future success of the Community.

Both Carlyle and Narcia have goals to encourage and increase Community participation in future planning for the Community.

The swearing-in ceremony for both Council members will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at the Service Center. At that time both the Chairman and Vice-Chairman positions will be announced.
