the-etrade-baby-might-be-going-into-retirementDuring the Super Bowl, we saw an ad in which a woman informed her boss that she was quitting her job.  It was a Go-Daddy spot.

Now, we have seen an ad in which a caricature spokesperson has quit as the spokesperson.  It was the E*Trade baby, who in his sarcastic, adult voice proclaimed, “I’m done.   I’m out of here.”

Actually, E*Trade decided that the baby’s role as the company’s spokesperson had run its course after seven years.

One thing about having a non-human spokesperson is they can’t do anything to cast embarrassment on the company that has hired them. No police incidents, visits to rehab or ill-timed, poorly-targeted or politically-incorrect quotes.
