Recently I heard that Sedona is the newest member in Arizona to be named part of the International Dark-Sky Association. I know that Arizona has some spectacular star viewing locations, but I had never heard of the International Dark-Sky Association – so I did some research and discovered that Arizona is listed three times!
I learned that out of just eight communities around the world, Flagstaff and Sedona are listed on this prestigious list, as well as the Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument, which is just one of 17 parks worldwide to earn this recognition.
This is one of the many reasons why I love living in Arizona – we are one of the few states that have so much to offer, including gorgeous night sky views, or according to the International Dark Sky Places Program, Arizona is “home to some of the darkest and most pristine skies in the world.”
Will you be planning a trip up north anytime soon to check out these views?
