Yesterday, two things happened – neither of which I thought would happen in a million years.

First – my Notre Dame Fighting Irish made it to the BCS Title Game, less than two years before the silly system goes away in favor of a playoff system. While so excited for the appearance and undefeated regular season, the game didn’t go so well (understatement). I am inconsolable today and considering defriending Olson Communications’ Veronica Graves for her constant “Roll Tide” references online. :-)

But, secondly – and far more remarkable – our own Abbie S. Fink, who knows about as much about sports as I do about macramé, was quoted by ESPN!!!

No, seriously, she was. Proof is here.

Funny enough, an AP reporter was looking for comments on sports clichés leading up to the big (disappointing game), so Abbie piped right in with insight left and right.

Wonders never cease.

Congrats to Abbie and Veronica! I am going to go hide my head in a hole until next football season now…

This should not be a surprise. She’s a gamer.

I may not know a ton about football, but I can talk a “good game.” Comes from my many years of working the Fiesta Bowl and two Super Bowls. Not to mention the fact that we have sportscaster extraordinaire, Scott, in our office :)

Because after all, “you’ve gotta take ‘em one game at a time.”
