I think every college senior goes through a phase of “senioritis” where all they want is to finish school and dive into the real world. They picture walking across the stage, grabbing their diploma, and taking with them all of the freedoms that come with being on their own. That is, until they realize it comes with bills, nine-hour workdays, and being 100% responsible for yourself. While this happens to be my current phase of life, I think there is rich purpose for each step you take along the way, and your only choice is to embrace it.
My name is Caelen Demos and I am the newest HMA Public Relations account coordinator. I recently graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism & Mass Communication and started my job a mere six days after graduation. While it seemed like a whirlwind graduating school and starting my first job so quickly, I am so fortunate and excited to be a part of this team!
Graduating college and beginning a career is one of the most rewarding and educational times in a person’s life. In just a few short weeks, I’ve had to adjust from being dependent on those around me, to learning how to do basic adult things like fill out tax forms. As a true learner of life, I really enjoy figuring out how to do new things and all that comes with starting a new adventure.
While at ASU, I had a chance to get my feet wet in the PR industry with a diverse number of internships including the Greater Phoenix Convention & Visitors Bureau, SportSearch, the Artigue Agency, Make-A-Wish Foundation America, and Zion & Zion Advertising Agency. I loved getting to experience such a variety of positions underneath the communications umbrella, ultimately leading me to my place in the agency sector.
I’ve always known that I have a passion for two things: writing and people. This combination, I believe, is the cornerstone of public relations. I can’t believe I get to do both of those things on a daily basis as a PR professional, especially as a member of the HMA team.
